  • 2007 SIDEWALK CHALK ART COMPETITION
    WINS FOR NASHVILLE ARTIST

Suzanne Gaudette Way received the 1st place award, adult division, as well as Best in Show and the People’s Choice prize for her entry entitled, ‘King Tut, another side of the Boy King’.

This is the second year that Way has participated in the very popular annual event staged in Waverly by the Humphreys County Art Association, headed by President and local Veterinarian, Dr. Linda Batey.  Sidewalk Chalk competitions have become very popular lately since all the work is done while the public is welcome to observe and ask questions.

Way says she appreciates the opportunity to demonstrate the joy of freehand drawing,  quickly becoming a ‘lost art’ in this increasingly technological world.  “I have found that folks seem to think of painting as fun and drawing as work so I really urge my adult and child students alike to practice drawing at every opportunity” and, she adds happily, “

I have my ways of making the beginning process much easier and more fun than they ever dreamed possible so my students call it “the Suzy Way way”!  Her openness and willingness to share ideas and information is clearly evident as she interacts cheerfully with onlookers despite the hours in the hot sun required to complete one of her ‘masterpieces’.
